What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner?
A psychiatric nurse practitioner (more formally called a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner or PMHNP) is a registered nurse who has received advanced training (a master or doctorate degree) in providing mental health and psychiatric services.
One of the advantages of seeing a PMHNP is that we are able to provide both counseling therapy and medication management services. This has been one of my favorite aspects of nursing philosophy: the holistic focus, incorporating all facets of a person's well-being.
Areas of focus. (also listed in "Nate's Approach")
Our experience lies in addressing obstacles to growth that often fall into these categories: depression, anxiety, extreme mood swings, panic, histories of trauma or abuse, self-defeating patterns of thought and behavior, grief and bereavement, chemical dependency/substance abuse, and issues surrounding minority status.
We offer both individual therapy and medication management sessions for adults.
Training, licensure, and certification.
